‘La Mode 2012’

SMC’s annual fashion show, showcasing cutting-edge designs made by students. Students have also hand chosen the music, models, and designed the poster for the event. Cash prizes will be awarded in four categories – Contemporary Sportswear, Resort, Evening Wear, and Office – with a $300 prize for best in show. Judges will be on the scene representing names like Girard, Jacobson, Lesser, Bloomingdale’s, Juicy Couture, Sculpture to wear, and the California Fashion Association.

‘RENT’

SMC’s production of Jonathan Larson’s Tony Award winning play ‘RENT.’ Set on the Lower East Side of NYC, the musical is a new-age rendition of ‘La Boheme.’ The story follows a group of poor young artists struggling to create and survive during the rise of the AIDS epidemic.

‘Next Wave L.A.’

The Los Angeles Ballet presents the highly acclaimed ‘Next Wave L.A.’ The production will feature music by Queen, U2, and others. Choreographed by Kitty McNamee, Sonya Tayeh, Josie Walsh, and Stacey Tookey. Tookey is known for her work on the hit TV show, ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’

Those Folks X Warm Brew

Street wear brand, Those Folks will host a T-shirt collaboration and release party with Santa Monica based rap group Warm Brew. The daytime release in Santa Monica will be followed by an after party and concert in West L.A.
