Coming off a 2-2 tie against LA Pierce College, the SMC women’s soccer team followed it up with a 1-0 victory over Bakersfield on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore sensation Meg Pierce scored the Corsairs only goal of the match. Pierce was called for a yellow card during the game for protesting a call.
The win improves the Corsairs to 2-1-2 in the Western State South Conference, and 5-2-4 overall. They currently sit at fourth in the conference behind Citrus, Canyons, and LA Pierce respectively.
SMC suffered a brief scare when sophomore Vianca Barajas appeared shaken up after suffering a blow. Barajas lay face down on the field for a few minutes, but was able to walk it off and return to action.
The Corsairs take to the road for the next two games, Friday Oct. 12 against Glendale College at 5 p.m. and Tuesday Oct. 16 against LA Valley College at 4 p.m.
