The Santa Monica Minute: Episode 12

Quick look at events taking place in and around Santa Monica College for the week of Oct. 16 to 22, 2017.

Sustainability Week starts at SMC and runs to the 19th. The school will host events every day promoting a more sustainable lifestyle, ranging from a free Farmer’s market in the Organic Learning Garden to a sustainability fair, where organizations will offer volunteer and internship opportunities.

Are you a Disney fanatic? Then check out A Conversation with Will Finn, legendary Disney animator who’s worked 36 years for studios such as Disney and Dreamworks, taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 17 (room HSS 165).

Screening of Documentary Wasted, by the TV Chef Anthony Bourdain, exposes the realities of food waste. At the Laemmle Monica film center. Wednesday, Oct. 18.

United by Blue,  a Santa Monica Beach Cleanup event, on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Santa Monica Pier. (4-6 p.m.).

Love Jazz? SMC has a perfect treat for you, when the school’s jazz band will perform in tribute to saxophonist Oliver Nelson. Performances are on Oct. 22-23 at 7:30 p.m.
