The Great California ShakeOut happens annually on the third Thursday of October. Last year it took place on a lovely fall day, with the main campus full of students, as is usual. This year, the earthquake drill took a few minutes from start to end, as the campus is almost completely deserted. As these photos show, comparing images from 2019 and from 2020, there’s an enormous difference between our lives last year and our lives this year.
