Friday’s game was a well-fought battle. The Corsairs put up a valiant effort and were continually able to prevent offensive pushes from Chaffey College. Our team was able to not only score the first goal, but managed to prevent any opposing goals from meeting their mark until the second half.

Ali Aliban(5), Alexia Mallahi(9), and Charlie Kayem (5) were standout players, though the entire team was played well. There seemed to be some issues with communication and coordination at times, but they were short lived.

SMC goalie Yosemite Cruz(30) was an especially strong part of the game, routinely saving plays and being an incredibly upbeat and vocal part of the team. Her energy rivalled that of even the coach, and she was an integral part of the communication within the backline and the team at large while defensive plays were being made. Her shouts of encouragement and general excitement spurred the team to action.
