Two in the Top Ten

Corsair cross country had strong individual showings at Mt. SAC Invitational.
On Friday, Oct. 13, Santa Monica College’s (SMC) cross country teams participated in Mount San Antonio College’s (Mt.SAC) Cross Country Invitational presented by NIKE. This marked Mt. SAC’s 75th invitational in Walnut, California.
The first race was the women’s, which had 114 runners. Sarahi Jimenez and Lisa Servin ran the 3 Mile. Individually, Jimenez finished in 9th place with a time of 19:57 and Servin came in 13th with a time of 20:10. Overall, SMC did not place, with the team finishing with a combined time of 40:08.
For the men, Jose Sevilla, Colin McCormick, and Jesse Van Patten ran the 4 Mile, with 171 participants. In their individual times, Sevilla finished in 6th place with a time of 21:27, McCormick 18th (22:12) and Van Patten 96th (25:13). The men's team also did not place, with a team time of 1:08:53.
The teams that came out on top were from the host, Mt. SAC, for both women and men.
The Corsairs’ next event will be at the Western State Conference Finals, held at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California, next Friday. The time is not yet specified.
