The Corsairs continue win Streak






The Santa Monica College (SMC) men’s soccer team continued their winning streak on Friday, Oct. 10, after facing Glendale City College (GCC) Vaqueros at Corsair Stadium. The score board was left at 3-1, putting SMC on a seven-game winning streak. Goalie Greg Georgantellis had a successful second half, managing to shut out the Vaqueros.
Forward Gabe Mejia started the lead early for SMC, successfully scoring a header three minutes into the game.
Midway through the first half, the Vaqueros scored their first goal after both teams had numerous attempts pushing the field.
This continued right up to halftime, with less than two minutes remaining, forward Danny Spindler bumped in another header for SMC to lead 2-1.
After halftime, the game shifted to a defensive focus. SMC and GCC were both unable to form an effective attack.
After 88 minutes of play, SMC forward Santiago Veizage kicked the final goal of the game.
The next game for the Corsairs will be at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 14 against the Citrus College Owls at Citrus Stadium.
