Application for Citizens Bond Oversight Student Representative Close Thursday.

Applications for the vacated student representative position to the Santa Monica Citizens Bond Oversight Committee close Thursday, Sept. 9. The application process for student representatives is usually carried out in the Spring during the Associated Students (AS) election season; however, the current student representative transferred from Santa Monica College (SMC), leaving a vacancy on the Oversight Committee.

Students seeking to apply must be enrolled in at least five units, have a minimum 2.0 grade point average and have a clean student conduct record. A.S. will interview and select a student on Monday, Oct. 8, then recommend them for appointment at the following Board of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Once approved, the representative will sit on the 12-person committee to oversee the use of the voter-approved bond funding for SMC campus projects. These projects consist of, but are not limited to, the upgrading and maintenance of campus facilities, along with the construction of new campus buildings.

The first Oversight Committee meeting will take place on Jan. 28, 2026. The student representative’s term will then end after a new representative is appointed in the Spring. Students who meet the requirements and are seeking to apply can submit their applications here.
