Corsairs lose 40-35

The Santa Monica Corsairs (2-2) were unable to hold off San Bernadino Valley College (1-2) as they fell at home Saturday 40-35 . The Corsairs scored with no hesitation getting out to an early lead to end the first quarter 14-0 but SBVC would put up 21 unanswered points to end the first half 21-14.

The Corsairs were able to march down field in the second half and get the ball to San Bernardino’s 20 yard line when freshman quarterback Alonso Medina threw a pick-six to SBVC. The interception would be foreshadowed by a third quarter rally by the Corsairs, sparked by a Medina touchdown pass and the Corsairs would put up 21 straight points to go into the fourth quarter with a 35-34 lead.

However, with time winding down SBVC was able to score on a quarter back sneak, by quarterback Ethan Hillyer, that  would put a seal on the game for San Bernadino.

Both teams would go scoreless to end the game.
