Subject: Agenda Item for the June 6 Board of Trustees Meeting

Dear President Thomas Donner,

We respectfully request under Brown Act provisions the following item to be placed on the June 6 SMC Board of Trustees open session agenda for discussion and action:

"The Board of Trustees reconsider the current invitation to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to be commencement speaker at the June 14th Santa Monica College graduation and recommend a substitute speaker."

We submit that the Governor position on education and social issues is contrary to the values of Santa Monica Community College and the residents of Santa Monica.

Sincerely.
