SMC women's basketball fought valiantly in their attempt to advance past the first round of the playoffs, but were thwarted by the Cypress College Chargers; losing 74-69.

The Corsairs suffered another defeat this past Sat., Nov. 7, as they gave up 16 unanswered points in a 19-18 loss to the Los Angeles Southwest College Cougars on the road.

The Santa Monica College women's soccer team clung to a one-point lead against the College of the Canyons Cougars to claim victory on the road this past Fri., Nov. 6., with the final score of 1-0. The grinding pace of last week's game served to test the resilience of the Lady Corsairs defense.

As the collegiate basketball season tipped-off last week, the Santa Monica College Corsairs outstandingly won their season opener at home with a score of 65-50, outpacing the El Camino College Warriors while they struggled to keep up with the Corsair's tenacious play.

The SMC women's soccer team extended their winning streak to four games this past Tues. Oct. 27 by outscoring the Bakersfield Renegades 2-1. After suffering mixed results in recent road games, the well-ranked Renegades could not put enough pressure on the lady Corsairs to reverse their momentum.

The Lady Corsairs won last Tuesday's volleyball game against West Los Angeles College Wildcats with a final score of 3-0. 

The Corsairs were defeated at the hands of the East Los Angeles Huskies Saturday night in a tragic 51-37 loss that spoiled their Homecoming.

The SMC Men's Water Polo team earn their first victory of the season after losing their last 18 matches. The win was largely credited to goalie Stefan Stratton; as the driving force to major plays, Stratton had a rather unique perfomance that set him apart from all the other players

The Corsairs made an improbable comeback in beating the Wildcats 29-28. The emotional game against their crosstown rival came just two days after the Corsairs' former head coach, Robert Taylor, passed away due to complications from an ulcer  

The Lady Corsairs exceptional season this year has painted a target on their backs that some competitors can only seem to strike with a fist.
