On February 15, 2020 the Santa Monica College (SMC) Corsairs faced off against LA Valley Monarchs in a conference matchup that could have some playoff implications for both teams, as they are both three games away from the postseason. The match ended in a Corsairs loss 73-64, their next match is away against Glendale February 19 at 7:00pm.

The passing of Laker legend Kobe Bryant on January 26, 2020 due to a helicopter accident has left the entire NBA community and the city of Los Angeles in disbelief, and pain even a few days after the incident. Last Monday on Lebron James’ HBO Show “The Shop,” California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill enacting major athletic reform in the state. Senate Bill 206 (SB 206) prohibits the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from barring an institution the ability to compete in an event if athletes are paid for their names and likenesses. The bill passed through the California Legislature unanimously.
