The Judgement of the Joker

When one goes to the movie theater to see the new “Joker” movie, it's no surprise to see a couple police officers guarding the perimeter of the cinema. Although some theaters nowadays will usually check bags before people come in, extra precautions are being put in place with this new contentious movie. Controversy sparks from the violence portrayed, and has caused paranoia that this in turn will give people the idea that they, too, should create violence in the real world.

Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued in the Pacific Palisades after a brush fire blazed up a Palisades hillside beginning at around 11 a.m. this morning. Since December of 2017, Dapperton has released numerous singles, three four-track EPS, and – most recently – his first full-length album, Where Polly People Go to Read. The current 2019 United States leg of his tour is named after the album: “The Polly People US Tour.” Dapperton’s tour took him to The Fonda Theatre, a Hollywood-based concert venue, on Monday, Oct. 15, 2019.

BREAKING: Saddleridge Wildfire Breaks Out in the San Fernando Valley, Prompting Evacuations

A wildfire broke out late last night in Sylmar. At approximately 9:00pm, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFP) reported that high winds were causing the fire to spread rapidly. Affected areas include Sylmar, Porter Ranch, and parts of Granada Hills.

As of 8:30am on Friday morning, approximately 4,700 acres have burned, 25,000 homes have been evacuated, and 100,000 people have been displayed, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Containment is at 0%.

Governor Newsom Signs Bill Allowing College Athletes to be Paid

Last Monday on Lebron James’ HBO Show “The Shop,” California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill enacting major athletic reform in the state. Senate Bill 206 (SB 206) prohibits the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from barring an institution the ability to compete in an event if athletes are paid for their names and likenesses. The bill passed through the California Legislature unanimously.
