The Sun Shines on September 11, 2021
Every September 11th since 2008, Pepperdine University students have set up what is known
as Waves of Flags Display to honor those that lost their lives during the September 11, 2001
attacks. On this 20th anniversary of the 9/11, nearly 3000 flags are placed strategically
throughout the Pepperdine campus with the vast majority of them being American flags.
Through the masses you'll notice other countries found among the set ups as well, these were
placed to symbolize the loses the countries have suffered as well through the vicious terrorist
attacks. The Display is meant to educate both students and anyone who may come across the
campus to honor those heroic men and women that have sacrificed so much during those tragic
times. The College has planned a full day of remembrance and reflection for the memorial and

The Waves of Flags will be on display from Thursday, September 9, to Saturday, September 25,
2021.
