Abortion Rights Activists Take to 110 Freeway

Thousands of abortion rights protestors gathered in downtown Los Angeles, after the Supreme Court ruled Friday, June 24, to overturn the landmark case Roe vs. Wade ending the constitutional protection for abortion rights for women across the nation.

Gathering first at Federal building, crowds of supporters quickly grew to other areas such as City Hall, Pershing Square and all of the surrounding areas within a 5 block vicinity, where the masses took to the streets, shutting down traffic every direction they went. At roughly 7:30 p.m. the protestors took to the 110 freeway in the northbound lanes completely shutting down the Northbound traffic. The rally was able to make it to the next exit where they were met by LAPD officers in riot gear forcing the group off the freeway.

By 9 p.m the police officially declared an unlawful assembly and they began to disperse the crowds, though no arrests were made.
