L.A. Celebrates Pride

Los Angeles hosted its 53rd annual pride parade in Hollywood.

Los Angeles hosted its 53rd annual pride parade on Sunday, June 11 in Hollywood, California. One hundred and fifty floats navigated through the many thousands of people lined up on the famous Hollywood Blvd. along the parade’s nearly one-mile-long route.

The grand marshals for the parade were queer comedian and activist Margaret Cho as the Icon Grand Marshal, the Legacy Grand Marshal was chosen to be Emmy-winning actor Leslie Jordan as a tribute to his death, and the ACLU of Southern California was the Community Grand Marshal. Some other notable participants were the Gay Freedom Band LA, the drag group Send Noodz, NASA, and Planned Parenthood.

The event in its entirety was awash with color, music, dancing, and cheers as one of L.A.’s oldest traditions was a toast to honoring people for who they are.
