Working for that Win

The Corsairs reassert their dominance over the LA Mission Eagles.

On Wednesday, the Corsairs’ women’s volleyball team played against the Los Angeles Mission College Eagles at the Health Fitness & Athletics Complex in Sylmar, California. The two teams last played each other a week ago, with the Corsairs winning 3-0. The Corsairs were victorious again, this time 3-1.

The Eagles began the first set by building a sizable lead, but the Corsairs stopped their momentum to quickly win it 25-17.

The remaining three sets were not so easy for the Corsairs. While the scores for the remaining three sets were 19-25, 25-18, and 25-21, the victory margins belie the challenge both teams faced. Throughout the two-hour match, the teams alternated taking the lead point-by-point, with the winning team finally able to break ahead once the score hit the high teens.

With this win, the Corsairs brought their winning streak up to six consecutive games. It wasn’t all bad for the Eagles- they gave the Corsairs their first set loss after the Corsairs won their previous five games all 3-0.

This match turned out to be the final game in the Corsairs’ winning streak. Their next game was on Friday, against the Ventura College Pirates, which they lost 3-2.

The Corsairs’ next game will be at home on Wednesday, Sept. 20, against the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros.
