SMC campus chicken taken away by animal control

The chicken that found its way onto campus and into the hearts of students is in a Santa Monica animal shelter at this time. According to animal control the chicken named "Sonia" by some suffered an injury to her neck that prompted Animal Control officers to capture and remove the chicken from campus for treatment. An animal control officer on scene today said that the chicken will not be returned to the campus but will be available for adoption upon recovery.
