The mens and women's leading scorers are both international students. Both teams are #1 in their conference and are ranked highly in state rankings. Santa Monica Colleges (SMC) women's soccer team is currently ranked number six in California and number one in their conference. Men’s soccer is also number one in their conference which confirms SMC as a soccer powerhouse.

Santa Monica College Corsairs hosted the Allen Hancock College Bulldogs (AHC) on Saturday night’s homecoming game at Corsair Field. The Bulldogs were coming off a four-game winning streak while the Corsairs had won the previous game in a tough fight in overtime against Los Angeles Harbor College.

For the first time since 1994, NFL football is finally back in the city of angels. The inaugural “Battle for L.A.” featured third-year Rams star quarterback Jared Goff torching the Chargers defense, in a 35-23 victory. Goff completed 29 of his 36 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns, while Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley led the Rams ground attack with 105 yards and one score.

The Corsairs finally find their first win in week 4 against Compton College. The Corsairs come back strong after a tough 56-0 lost two weeks ago against Bakersfield College. Santa Monica College (SMC) has finally earned their first win of the season this Saturday against Compton College Tartars after starting off their first three games winless.

After a 14-4-5 2017 season, the Santa Monica College Men’s Soccer team is off to an impressive 5-1 start in 2018. Coach of seven years Tim Pierce said they have a good group and they’re used to winning some games from last year.

Womens soccer was off to an amazing start until SBCC ends a four game win streak. The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is making their presence known, not only in Major League Soccer (MLS) but in the city of L.A. itself. LAFC is off to a very strong start in MLS as number four in the Western Conference, just two wins behind the number one seed Sporting Kansas City. With a young, ambitious head coach that has all the right tools to bring them back to the playoffs, the Los Angeles Rams will be a huge threat to any team in the NFL this upcoming season. “We’re going to win games,” said Marcus Peters, the newly acquired Pro-Bowl cornerback, to the NFL Network. “When you’ve got a running back like I do, when you’ve got a front-seven like I do now, all you can do is keep making plays.

Tommy Henninger, a business major at Santa Monica College, has decided he wants to become a professional sports better. "I am good at this and I understand the risks it comes with - I spend about six hours a week doing it," Henniger said. "I will be transferring to California University, Long Beach in the fall to earn my bachelors degree in business, but sports betting will still be something I still practice throughout my college career."

Many people in recent memory have had opportunities to make a name for themselves early on in their respective careers. The majority achieved great success in their prime, while others set theirs in motion during their later years. Rarely has anyone been able to do both in a gap of three to four decades apart, and that is what RC Everbeck has done at the age of 48, and he now is the oldest starting football player in the country.
