Amoeba Music, an iconic Hollywood record store, prepares to reopen at thier new location at 6200 Hollywood Blvd., in Hollywood Neighborhood of Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, March 30, 2021. The previous location, nearby on Sunset Blvd., was closed permanently and unceremoniously during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite plans for a festive and musical goodbye. The new location will open on Thursday, April 1, 2021. (Maxim Elramsisy | The Corsair)

The night before their grand re-opening, Amoeba Music opened its doors for a preview of its brand new store on Hollywood Blvd. The original store on Sunset Blvd. closed abruptly last year due to COVID-19.

The fresh new set up is once again home to a diverse lot of thousands of records, CD’s, books, posters, and more. New additions include a stage designed by artist and activist Shepard Fairey, famous for his OBEY brand, and an open floor plan with multiple levels organized by media format.

Amoeba’s grand opening event will take place April 1 at 11 a.m. following COVID-19 protocol, limiting the number of customers that enter the store at a time. Customers with more than 10 items to sell will line up on Hollywood Blvd, while shoppers and sellers with less than 10 items will line up on Argyle Blvd. Limited edition commemorative posters and screen printed t-shirts will be available while supplies last.
