Before my career as an Santa Monica College (SMC) student, I received my BA in the 1980s, around the same time as Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his alleged victims. Attending a women's college - Mt. Holyoke, a school that recruits SMC students every semester - helped insulate my friends and me from the dangerous behavior Kavanaugh’s victims described - but not completely.

White House Halts Equal Pay Rule
Efforts towards providing equal pay between genders were set back on August 28, 2017, when the Trump administration halted an Obama-era rule requiring businesses to report their employees' wages by gender, race, and ethnicity. The administration argued that the data collection requirement would be both "enormously burdensome" to companies and ineffective in addressing the gender wage gap.
